Created with a commitment to environmental health, the Forever Earth program is a way for us to ensure we are doing our part to lessen our environmental impact while educating vendors, partners, stakeholders, and customers on how to do the same. For over a dozen years, we have used green rating criteria for our vendors. This allows us to give preference to vendors that share our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint. We consider whether the vendors have demonstrated environmental business practices and if the products they offer are made from recycled content or recyclable.
As our company has grown, we have always been aware of the potential increase in carbon monoxide from our fleet of houseboats. In order to address this, we changed the types of engines that we used. This switch lowered our carbon monoxide emissions by over 50%, even as we increased the number of houseboats in our fleet. We are happy to embrace new technologies and upgrade our houseboats as these become available to ensure we are always operating as efficiently as possible.
