Types of Houseboats for Your Vacation

One of the most common questions first-time houseboat renters ask is, “how much room on a houseboat do I really need?” Is it worth getting a 75-foot houseboat or will the 60-foot model be enough? While this question seems straightforward, there are several things you may want to consider when reviewing types of houseboats to rent. The number of private bedrooms, maximum occupancy, and onboard amenities varies by model. We’ve outlined some of the most notable differences between the different luxury houseboats we offer at Forever Houseboats to help you find the ideal model for your next houseboat vacation.

How Many People?

There are two numbers to consider when choosing a houseboat to accommodate your party: how many people the boat sleeps and the boat’s maximum occupancy. Although in many cases a houseboat will sleep up to its maximum occupancy, the two numbers differ for a few models. For example, the 50-foot Forever houseboat sleeps 6 with 2 bedrooms and a sofa sleeper but has a maximum occupancy of 10. On the other end of the spectrum, our 75-foot XTreme houseboat can sleep up to 15, but the maximum occupancy is set at 12 due to Coast Guard regulations requiring no more than 12 people on board while the boat is in motion.

How Many Bedrooms and Bathrooms?

Depending on your individual group, the number of private bedrooms and bathrooms might make a significant difference in the types of houseboat rentals you consider. For some groups, private bedrooms are not that important, while others prefer that each person or couple have their own private space. We offer houseboat models from 2 to 6 private bedrooms with anywhere from 1 to 2.5 baths, so you can easily find what will work best for your party.

Which Amenities Are Available?

At Forever Houseboats, we specialize in luxury houseboat rentals. Every model we rent features a front salon seating area, fully equipped kitchen, and at least 2 private bedrooms. Additionally, our 75-foot Platinum and XTreme houseboats are fully wheelchair accessible.

If you are still uncertain after determining the number of bedrooms and maximum occupancy, the next question to ask yourself is how you plan on relaxing during your houseboat vacation. The onboard hot tub, available on the 70 and 75-foot houseboats, is one of our most popular amenities. If you enjoy watching movies or television, you may want to rent a model with DIRECTV satellite service. The 70 foot Gold houseboat even features 7 separate LCD flat screen televisions. If you plan on spending every spare moment on the sundeck with a drink in your hand, make sure you choose a model with patio seating for everyone in your party and a wet bar.
