Houseboating is awesome! But if you are a first-time, you may have some questions about how to operate your vacation vessel on the lake. At Forever Houseboats, you’ll have a lot of practiced hands to give you guidance so you can be on your way in no time. Here’s a quick first-timers guide to houseboating to help get you started.
Is It Hard to Steer?
We get asked that a lot. Houseboating is not that different from driving a car. You have a steering wheel, fuel gauges, and specific switches to run lights and appliances on board, all of which are clearly marked. Operation is pretty straightforward. We recommend Houseboating 101 on our Forever Houseboats site. It’ll give you a brief houseboating overview, particularly the video.
Should I Bring Plates?
First-timers often want to know what amenities to bring on board. We’re happy to tell you that our galley is well-stocked with everything from dish towels to dinner plates. We also provide linens and bathroom supplies. See a list of what’s included on board one of our 50ft Forever Houseboats at Lake Powell.
What to Do?
If you’re houseboating for the first time, you have our guarantee that you will not run out of activities. You can swim, fish, cruise the lake, see natural wonders and discover interesting coves and secluded beaches. If you rent a small personal watercraft from us, like a kayak, jet ski or motor boat, you can turn your houseboat into a kind of base camp, as you go exploring narrow canyons and harder to reach places. At night, anchor your boat and cook over a campfire. This is always a big treat for kids.
We welcome questions. Call us toll free at (800) 255-5561. We’d love to hear from you! We’re confident if you try houseboating once, you’ll be back again and again.
