Ready to Rent a Houseboat?

rent houseboat

Anyone can houseboat! True, it might be intimidating at first to get behind the helm of a 36,000 pound, 50 feet long luxury vessel, but don’t worry because when you rent a houseboat from Forever Houseboats you rent houseboat knowledge too. We’ll give you all the instruction you’ll need to successfully captain your home on the lake.

So, what else do you need to know before taking your houseboat out on the water?

What to Bring

You don’t have to rent houseboat equipment of any special kind when you’re on our houseboats, we provide everything you need for cooking, sleeping, and bathing. But there are some things you’ll want to bring along, such as light clothing for the day and some warm clothing, too, as the nights can get chilly. Bring toys for the kids and child friendly DVDs for downtime, and don’t forget to stock up on plenty of food! Plan your menu in advance and shop for the items you’ll need and plan on at least two bags of ice per day of the trip. You’ll also want to have plenty of sunscreen and other sun protection on hand, such as a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.

Start Your Engines

Hearing that motor hum for the first time as you start your houseboat vacation is an exciting moment filled with anticipation for the fun ahead. There are three easy steps to getting started that involve the tilt/trim switch, bilge blowers, and posting a lookout, but, again, we’ll give you all the details when you arrive. Then it won’t be long before your on-board crew starts calling your “Skipper.”

Rules of the Road

One last thing: Just like driving a car, there are rules for the road. On your houseboat, you’ll find federal and state navigation manuals, but as a general rule, whoever is on the right has the right of way. For more information, check out our houseboating orientation videos at www.foreverhouseboats.com.

At Forever Houseboats, we have plenty of experience in training new houseboat captains, and we’re more than happy to share our knowledge with you. Don’t feel you have to go out and rent houseboat training literature, we’ll answer all your questions so you can navigate your way through your relaxing and fun-filled vacation.
